Built in the 1800s, Rhu Cottage was originally a cooperage providing barrels for the Plockton fishing trade. Later in that century an upper floor was added making it a typical ‘one and a half story’ traditional Highland cottage. It has now been refurbished, but still retains its original character, providing a cosy and relaxing retreat away from noise and hubbub.
The cottage is ideally situated in a quiet and secluded part of Plockton by the water but just minutes from the shop, pubs and restaurants. This is much appreciated when you come home after a hard day’s sight-seeing or walking.
The lounge, kitchen/diner and both bedroom windows all face the beautiful sea loch that is Loch Carron. Whether sitting outside — or in the porch during inclement weather — you are assured of magnificent views across the garden and open grassland to Plockton Bay, Duncraig Castle and the Crags.
As owners and Plockton residents, we live in the adjacent, newly built extension. We run the Post Office and Tourist Information. You can therefore be assured that we are right on hand, ready and happy to make your stay stress-free and relaxing.
Plockton Village, known as ‘The Jewel of the Highlands’, is the perfect base to stay, being ideal for walking, photography, boating and water-sports or just quietly watching the wildlife.
