On Friday 11 March, the same day as red nose day, we did a stag challenge. You had to get in a group of four, one adult and three children. There were adult teams as well. And there was a high school team. You had to make a stag out of newspaper and sellotape. The adult winners were Greg, Neil and Eddie. The winner of the high school team was Crisdean, James Will and Sarah. The primary winners were Liam, Matthew Oliver and Ian.

On Friday March 11th 2005 we did the stag Challenge. You had to make your stag in a limited time. I did not win but Liam and Matthew did. At the end the stags were put in the bin.

Plockton Primary have started a great new club call fighting fit. It is taken by Gus Loudon and helps us kids get rid of all that nasty fat!
Its been a great success with 15–20 pupils attending every week.
I think it is great fun and good exercise.

On the last day of term we released our salmon alevins into the Duirinish burn. We put them into plastic bags and took them there very quickly. They swam away under the stones. They will grow big eating the minibeasts in the burn.

On the 15 April we were clearing up the village. We had a lot of fun getting out of school and helping the villagers and the community council. We all got dirty fingers at the end of the day. We were all glad to get some ice creams and slush puppies after our work. Gladly we washed our hands.
Co-Fharpais K’Nex

Bha dìreach 45 mionaidean againn ga thogail. Aig deireadh an latha bhuainich Kenneth is Oliver. Seall cho toilichte sa that iad!
On Thursday 5th May Mr Leaper came to our school with Knex and we had to make a tower with a restaurant on top of it and try and make it rotate only if you wanted to. Only the two upper classes took part in it. We had 45 minutes to build the tower and it was only allowed to be 40cm tall but if you put an aerial on top it didnt count. You werent allowed to use anything except from Knex. At the end when time ran out Mr Leaper went around and looked at all of them and chose a winner. Kenneth Rankin and Oliver MacRae won so they will go to Broadford for the final out of Skye & Lochalsh. They will go on Thursday 12th of May.

We have been studying our local environment with Mrs Smith. We went to the woods and saw primroses, dandelions and bluebells. The bluebells are like a carpet under the trees.

The whole school took part in the local Mod in the High school. We all did different things. I played the Clarsach, sang with Jennifer and entered the speaking, poetry, reading and play competitions. The competitions were in the hall and the hostel. Our class won the play competition with Is toigh leam isbeanan I like sausages. We had food in the canteen and then some games. It was good fun.

We celebrated St Andrews day in the nursery. Some of us wore kilts for the day. We know what the Saltire looks like and made some Scottish flags of our own.

We made a DVD short film and showed it to everyone at the Christmas concert. Here is a picture from the film. The princess is in danger of her life. We were able to fly to rescue her! We used blue screen backdrop projection overlays.

Catriona, Oliver and Jennifer went to Aros as the Plockton Primary entry for the Skye and Lochalsh Youth Speaks public speaking competition. The topic of their speech was 'Where have all the manners gone' talking about behaviour, politeness, and good manners in today's world. They won! They were fantastic.

We are listening to Mr MacKinnon and the school practising for the St Andrew’s ceilidh. We all performed together on the big stage. The teachers did too. We liked listening to them.

We were really lucky with the weather on our day trip to Raasay. We made monsters using materials we found on the beach, such as stones, seaweed and old pieces of wood. We had our lunch at Raasay house. We travelled by bus and ferry.

The Gaelic class went on a trip to castles and historical sites. We stayed in a youth hostel by Loch Lomond and went on trips to Stirling, Edinburgh and Perth. We had a lot of fun!

In June class 4–7 went to High Pasture Cave. A man called Simon came to speak to us about the different objects they had found in the cave. We walked around the site. It was a good day.

Here is Ally and Cameron sawing a piece of wood at Landmark. The Raasay Centre was closed this year so we went to Landmark instead. The whole school went and we had lots of fun.

On 23 June we played against Kyle in the ‘Eddie MacKenzie’. It was a good game but there was no score at full time. It went to extra time but there was no score then. In the penalties I scored. It finished 3–1 to Plockton. We all got a medal and the team got the trophy. It was my birthday and that was a super present!

Yesterday we went to Plockton airfield and went inside a Sea King helicopter. The winchman told us about the equipment on board. We saw the control panel.

We all enjoyed seeing the equipment used to rescue people and seeing the inside of the helicopter. The visit brightened up the wet day and some people are even saying they want to join the R.A.F.

Every Friday we have rugby classes. We all enjoy it and have lots of fun. Our teacher is Sam Dobson who lives in Duncraig. We are focusing on tackling just now. It’s good.

At baking we made four different things. The food was from the school garden. We made soup, scones and pizza. It was very good. The pizza dough was yummy. The scones were in funny shapes.

GM 2–7 have three teams; the Chi Chis which include Rowan, William, Amelia and myself Ciorstaidh, the Zoom Zooms, and for their team they have Cameron, Brìghde, Finlay, James and Calum. Last but not least, the Hannah Montanas which have Michael, Ruairidh, Ally S. and Ally. R. in their team.
We do a series of challenges to win points, and the team with the most points at the end wins. Simple. Or is it?
One day Mrs MacArthur took in spaghetti and marshmallows and we were all trying to guess what they were for. But little did we know that we were going to build spaghetti and marshmallow towers!!! The team with the highest freestanding tower would win the thirty points. We knew that the wider base would let you build a higher tower.
At the end the Zoom Zooms had the tallest tower but was not freestanding. The Hannah Montanas had the strongest base but the Chi Chis won with a freestanding tower that was just over one metre high.

“Tick Tock, Tick Tock” everyone looked at the clock. It was quarter to one, the sports started at one o’clock. Everyone was so eager to do the sports that they didn’t work properly. AT LAST! It was one o’clock. We got our things together and we had our piper parade around the school and into The Old Manse Garden. The first race was the pipers’ race, they had to play a tune whilst running to the end, well Cameron won that race. Then it was the flat race, first it was the primary two, then primary three, then primary four and five and then six and seven. The next race was the bean bag race, then the sack race and so on.
My favourite race is always the Catch the Train race. In that race the six and sevens run up to the middle of the pitch where their clothes are lying. The boys take out of their bag their mum’s: skirt, umbrella, top shoes and hat whilst the girls put their Dad’s: jacket, trousers, hat and walking stick on, and then they run to the line that marks the end. Now for the prizes, for the juniors Callum Fitzpatrick and Calum Reid won, and for the seniors Ally Rankin won and for the house trophy, Sonas won and I as the house captain went up and held the trophy.

Last night we played for the Eddie Mackenzie cup. Every year Plockton Primary School play a football match against Kyle Primary School for the cup. Cameron Sharp was the captain.
We started well and after seven or eight minutes Davis scored a goal!! We were so happy!! At half time the score was 1-0 to Plockton.
Early in the second half Finlay Burstow scored for Kyle, it was a peach of a strike! But we kept going and near the end Ally Rankin scored a goal with his left foot to put us ahead. Kyle had three corners and on the third Finlay had a chance to score again. But Cameron Sharp to the rescue! He threw himself in front of the ball and blocked it from going in! The ball went out for another corner but there was no time left to take it. 'Wheeeeeeep!!!'
The whistle went and Plockton were the winner and the final score was 2-1 to Plockton. 'Hoorah!!!'
Jede Woche Freitag mache ich Deutsch mit Carina fuer eine halbe Stunde. Normalerweise spiele ich ein deutsches Computerspiel, und das heisst “Freddy der Fuchs”. Damit lerne ich deutsche Grammatik. Seit ich Deutsch mache, spreche und schreibe ich ueber meine Familie, Tiere und Stadt und Dorf.
Every week on a Friday I do German with Carina for half an hour. Usually I play a German computer game called Freddy the Fox; it’s to learn German grammar. Since I have been doing German I have been talking and writing about my family, animals and town and village.

‘S e airm Shiofort a bha san clas Gàidhlig agus ‘s e airm Dhòmhnallaich a bha san clas Beurla. Bhuainich na Siofortaich! Bha Catriona Lexi fhèin a’ fiolmadh agus ga gheàrradh. Tha sinn cho taingeil dhi.
The Gaelic and English class made a film with Catriona Lexi. It was a good story about a strong warrior who was hiding in a cave in Kintail because he killed the factor. Finlay acted as Fearchar the warrior, Michael as the Factor, me as the grumpy Landlord, class 1–3 as the farm animals and Brìghde as Finlay’s wife. Ally and Ruaridh were very funny as the old men. We filmed it all in Plockton. We wrote the script and brought in props and clothes. The film was funny, we all had fun and everyone worked really hard.
The Gaelic class were the landlord’s army and the English class were the MacDonald’s. The Seaforths won! Catriona Lexy filmed and cut it herself. We are really grateful to her.
